  • Solar Radiation in Hong Kong

During a year, the longest sunshine month is July and the shortest is January.

Solar radiation during the second half year is much higher than that of the first half year in Hong Kong. As for global horizontal radiation, the average hourly quantity range between the twelve months is range between 277Wh/sq.m (JAN) – 440Wh/sq.m (JUL) ; and as for direct normal radiation, the highest average hourly quantity can be as much as 324Wh/sq.m (OCT), while the lowest can be while the lowest can be 122Wh/sq.m(APR); While, the data of diffuse radiation in Hong Kong during twelve months is relatively uniform between 165Wh/sq.m (JAN) and 214Wh/(SEP). Thus, 165Wh/sq.m (JAN) and 214Wh/(SEP). Thus, we can take some measures on windows and building envelopes to avoid overheat during summer as well to make better use of solar radiation overheat during summer.
